An Open Letter to You!
My fellow South Africans…my Fellow Africans…this year we enter into our first election without our beloved leader and father- “Madiba”- Nelson Mandela. He has left us his legacy and his greatness. It is now up to us to look after it well. The Africa Unite party is the smallest party in South Africa- and we are not on the ballot sheet this time around; but it has the biggest heart and the greatest vision of all I believe. We are here to stay and you will see more of us in the years to come. Neither are we a one trick pony like many of the other parties. We are not a top heavy party but a movement where everyone counts; everyone has value. Everybody!
So in 2014 although we are NOT on the ballot sheet; we are with you in spirit. Whoever you vote for; make your vote count! Don’t just vote for the party you’ve always voted for… read their manifesto and ask yourself the question…what has this party done for me? What has this party done for the country? …and more importantly…what is their vision for this country? Will it work?
We believe the ANC have let the people down. They have abandoned the Freedom Charter and the Constitution.
Whereas once upon a time the ruling party were entrusted with the stewardship of this nation…under the last two ANC leaders our country has declined both in stature and in economic growth. Joblessness is at an all time high of 40%.As a result of bad governance we have all suffered. This is nothing to do with apartheid and everything to do with rampant corruption- as is seen in the recent “Nkandla style” scandal of the kleptocrat President Zuma.
The ANC has become the fulfillment of the Orwellian prophecy where you can’t tell the difference between the pigs and the men. As a result of their actions even the youth league has become divided, and a new party has formed; a party that has gone to the extreme left- yet will only deliver you more of the same…bad governance! The EFF policies are both disastrous and delusional and will not work.
The DA as the official opposition has grown in strength over the last 20 years …but it still cannot shake away its pro big business, pro middle class white liberal apartheid DNA… They have indeed come a long way…- but they are still perceived as too centre right… It’s hard to change perceptions – or memories- and the best thing Helen Zille can do for her party is to step down and let someone else take over. She’s done her job. At the moment the DA has a chance to take Gauteng- but they still have a very long way to go to get the trust of the people.
4
Cope unfortunately cannot cope anymore and they are a nonstarter. As for the IFP and the rest… they did little for the country before 2014; and they will do little for it after. Your vote counts, and that is why I have decided to endorse both the DA and the Ubuntu Party at this time. For those who don’t like either… a vote for the EFF is better than a vote for the ANC… but it’s up to you. I don’t believe spoiling your vote is a good idea. Just make your vote count!
The other smaller parties represent mostly special interests such as the Minority Front; but the PAC have had leadership issues for too long; and have diluted their support and strength by their own party divisions… that is a pity because they have a lot of credibility and history.
However, they are also still seen as too far left by many and also they are perceived as ineffective by the electorate.
The only alternative left …is the AUP which is the third way for the RSA...!
We offer an alternative that no other party offers. We offer the middle way…the centre of the political spectrum that will bring all the polarities together … left and right… we are the third way!...AFRICA UNITE!
There are serious issues at stake in South Africa right now that have to be addressed…the chief of these is the economy above all….how to create wealth…job creation and investment in this country? How to create millions of jobs. There are many promises…but who can deliver on them? The AUP has a plan to get this done…but the first thing we need to do is to impeach the president (as the prime example of bad authority or stewardship) to all the people of our country…to let them know…crime doesn’t pay… that even the president is accountable to the people of this nation. That populism cannot blind the eyes of justice.
We must end corruption or at least limit its impact on the poor. As long as we have a despot in power there will be little or no progress…in fact things will only get worse and the people will suffer the results of their choices… Since 1994 we have a good story to tell… despite the ANC and in spite of the ANC…not because of it…the ANC have over all a terrible story to tell… in 20 years this country has regressed- not progressed and that has everything to do with the legacy of apartheid carried forward by the ANC.. The ANC by their elitism, corruption and reactionary nepotism have become the enemy of the people by breaking the contract they had with the people… that is not our way…That is not the 3rd WAY…
The AUP promises the people a NEW contract… an “EMPOWERMENT CHARTER” that will give all South Africans a chance to prosper and better themselves… and we fully intend to invite all the parties to the table to join in on this initiative to make poverty history in our country. Even if it takes us 20 years to win the trust of the people – we will win it! But in the mean time we will pioneer the way forward for all; and your vote for us will not be a wasted one.
5
The AUP in this manifesto will explain to you how we intend to get this economy moving and this country back on track again. We are the only party that has the DNA to offer you, the voter… a “Third Way’ – a middle path to finding each other and the solutions to this country’s problems ; to put South Africa back on the World Map again as Africa’s economic powerhouse. With Africa Unite we will PUT it right! We are the only hope for REAL change in South Africa. We are the 3rd Way for the RSA! We will fight for you! – The little man…the little woman and the little child… without fear, favour or prejudice…AND WE WILL WIN!
We don’t need to save South Africa …it is already saved!!!-WE JUST DON’T KNOW IT YET!- this is an abundant country with massive amounts of potential wealth… we need to clean it out… and once cleaned of ALL the rubbish- it needs to get back to work! We need to regain our self confidence again as South Africans-our mojo…the same kind of confidence we had back in 1995.We need optimism not pessimism… and that is not what the other parties have to give the people…they don’t have all the answers… we do! Why? Because we have the vision for this nation and for Africa. We can …why? Because we think we can… this is the land of the bold and the free… and we will make it so again …for all!- … every South AFRI- CAN!
We need to make South Africa productive again and competitive with the rest of the world… at present it isn’t… To do this we need to promote social cohesion- unity…for all South Africans of all races and creeds... and this is the primary goal of this party…
- but beyond this… we are a youth party… a party that cares about the aspirations of the youth…that is why we invite all bright stars of our country to join us now whilst we are still small and grow with us… bring your ideas and your creativity with you and we shall make this beautiful country of ours blossom again… together we ARE stronger… We are going to build a platform for the weak and vulnerable to express themselves… all our disenfranchised will get the chance to speak up. That is who we are as a party…we are INCLUSIVE...not EXCLUSIVE! We are not an overnight sensation; we are a party with a stable, organic sensible vision and a worldview that will take this nation forward into the 21st Century. And this manifesto is only a first draft. You will be the ones that will conclude it. You will be the ones to correct and refine it.
I am conscious of the colour of my skin…but as I tell people… when ALL the people of this land OPEN their hearts to each other and stop seeing skin colour… and vote in a white man for their president…on this VERY day… we will ALL be liberated from the last of the evils of apartheid.
I thank you
Robin Denton
Founder & President of Africa Unite Party.

VUKA Ukhanye!- Arise & Shine!
1.The Current State of the Nation
Benjamin Disraeli, a British Politician who lived about 200 years ago said once … “There are lies, damned lies and statistics!” And he isn’t far wrong. The ANC have plastered the Golden Highway with signs quoting statistics… So many millions of jobs created… so many bursaries paid out… so many millions of houses built… so what is the problem if the ANC has done such a great job over the last 20 years?- a party that has uplifted the nation from dire straits to what appears to be a land of milk and honey? …Where is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?-WHERE!? Why is the country in deep kak? Why has unemployment risen from (according to the Economist 24.7% in 2013 to over 40 %in 2014) in less than a year? –
Why do we still see squatter camps next to mansions?
Why do we still have the highest sexually and racially motivated violence figures in the world?
Why haven’t the principles of the Freedom Charter still not been implemented?
Why do we have so many illegal immigrants and so full prisons?
Why do we keep hearing about scandal after scandal in the media?
Why haven’t the ANC delivered what they have promised the people in 1994?
Why do so many people still not have good sanitation, running water and housing?
The truth is … you’ve all been lied to! The ANC has relied on the goodwill of the people to stay in power… (And of course good ole fashioned bribery, coercion, scapegoating and grandstanding.)South Africa was the powerhouse of the continent. Nigeria has replaced it. South Africa never had problems with electricity- now it has load shedding (blackouts)- South Africa had good roads and good hospitals and schools… and an excellent educational standard. Now it doesn’t. Many of our BEST and our BRIGHTEST have left for Australia, England and America because they are not discriminated against and treated equally. Many patriotic South Africans of all races have voted with their feet- …thanks to the corrupt arrogant nepotism of the ANC!-A corruption on such a grand scale that it is estimated that since 1994 –over 700 billion rand has either been stolen or wasted( around R14 000 for each South African)…in fact …it’s far higher! The BEE policies have not benefitted the people- neither has the tender processes. In fact it benefitted only a small percentage I call …” the elite reactionaries of the ANC” My fellow South Africans… we are in deep trouble! Another 5 more years of Zuma will create more joblessness, more poverty and more corruption -and more immigration and a flight of resources… if that’s what you want…vote i’ ANC! Even if a NEW and ethical righteous government comes into power tomorrow…it will take between 5-10 years to put the mess right! - But the greatest crime of all in this country is that we still have apartheid! And that must end!
7
It is up to all of us to end it. Our nation needs to come together … UNITE… as NEVER before! Both Black and White… That is WHY you need to join Africa Unite! I thank you. PRD
2. Introduction:
This manifesto is about how we, as a party plan to fix this country. We are not naïve in that we don’t expect to be in power until 2034.But until then we will be a voice in the wilderness. But a voice amplified! We will grow slowly but surely and we will prove to the people of this country that our vision is inspired and right for this nation. But we are in 2014. And this country is in a mess thanks to the ANC. But why criticize if you have no alternative? Right… wrong. WE do! The path to recovery in this country begins with good governance; good accountable…transparent governance. We must get the thieves out of government and those that are capable INTO government. The second most important thing we need to do as a nation is to remove ALL apartheid laws and replace them with an EMPOWERMENT CHARTER… which will uplift the poor and the dispossessed of all races, tribes, genders and creeds. The inequality that existed in the OLD South Africa…still exists in the NEW South Africa… in the Old SOUTH Africa those that were poor are still poor in the NEW South Africa! Some of these poor were white...Some were black… some were Indian...Some were Coloreds. Some were poor because they lacked education…some were poor because they refused to be a participant to the old corrupt order… but …in the NEW South Africa… these same people are still excluded from the National dialogue, debate and narrative…and still suffer the indignities of moral & LEGAL disempowerment. This must end. A new page, a new chapter and a new book must be written. ALL apartheid laws must be abolished once and for all! The next thing we need to focus on is creating jobs, encouraging investment and getting our labor force BACK to work! Unions that do not have the best interests of their members at heart must be disciplined. Our country needs to ACTIVATED! AWAKENED! ALIVE! Our nation needs to become a business destination again for international investors… and our economy needs to get back on track. To recap – our 3 basic pillars are;
1. Good, ethical government- STOP CORRUPTION!
2. Remove ALL Apartheid laws and replace them with an Empowerment Charter.
3. Curtail the power of the Unions and Encourage Foreign & Domestic Investment.
This manifesto is primarily about getting the economy to work again. Our belief is this: Get the economy working ;and you will get South Africa working again! We have made mistakes in our first 20 years…but they can be rectified! We can turn things around again. But we need to get the fundamentals right! The economy is first and foremost. The next thing on the agenda is our social contract with the people. To this end we need to improve service delivery and get our basic public services working again. This is the second part of this manifesto. A NEW SOCIAL CONTRACT. The final part of getting this country working again is an EDUCATIONAL CONTRACT
8
with the people. “Without knowledge the people shall perish. “We need to improve the skills of the people. And that’s it. That’s our manifesto. Thank you. PRD.
3.Our Basic Principles and Core Values:
We, the people of South Africa this day, December 6th, 2013 on the passing of Nelson Mandela-”Our first president; declare to the entire world:
1. Africa shall be FREE! Africa shall be ONE! Africa shall be ONE nation under God!
2. We stand UNITED against ALL bigotry, racism, prejudice and discrimination.
3. We, the people look to our founding fathers and their words; and honour their struggle for independence and self determination. We hold true that all human beings irrespective of colour or creed should be protected by the law of this land.
4. We stand up for the blood of the martyrs of all Africans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their love of this land. They are patriots. We hear their voices from the ground and we remember them. They will not be forgotten. And we also stand for all the poor, vulnerable and oppressed of this land who has suffered for justices’ sake- They are PATRIOTS!
5. We believe our land is blessed with abundant resources and there is enough for everyone to share. Poverty and poverty mentality must be abolished! It must be made history. We stand together against greed, self interest, nepotism, cartels and corruption. There is no place for it in this age. Never.
6. We, the people call upon our authorities to make schools free for all, hospitals free for all - public services and roads free for all- and housing free for all- No one needs to suffer from ignorance or die of poor medical care. No one needs to be homeless. We also call upon reforms of our prisons .The fundamentals of human life are not just a social right but a human one. No one should suffer the indignities of apathy; racism or economic and/or social status.
7. Africa Unite! Stands by the Universal Declaration of Human rights- we believe that all should be responsible and accountable for violations of them. May all Africans know and practice their rights for the sake of justice and peace and joy. “An insult to one is an injury to all!”
8. We, the people declare that Africa is for Africans and that there is a place for all under our common sun -irrespective of race, tribe or belief. We hold true that our economy must be based on a meritocracy; that all forms of apartheid must cease immediately! We call upon all
9
those in the Diaspora to return to Africa, your home and build it into what it should be. Prosperous, Independent and fair for all!
9. We hold true that the elderly, the sick, the weak, the vulnerable, the outcast and the stranger should be afforded all the care and help necessary to give them dignity, integrity and self respect which is the basis of human life.
10. South Africa, our Rainbow Nation will protect and speak up for all minorities and the oppressed; and promote peace and stability for all Africa; to be a beacon of light for all humanity. Let Freedom and Unity reign forever! Arise and let your light SO shine!-VUKA UKHANYE!
May God always Bless and continue to Keep ALL Africa!
Mayibuye !Amen. AFRICA UNITE! Siyabonga. PRD
…………………………………………………………………………………
The above are our basic principles or core values and essentially WHO we are as a movement and as a party. It’s what we believe in. All of the above is what Robert Sobukwe stood for…what Mahatma Gandhi stood for; What Martin Luther King stood for; and what Nelson Mandela Stood for… and it is what I, the party leader of AFRICA UNITE stands for today!...
To be a true African is to have a love for this land and this continent and its people and future. To be a true” Africanist” is to be a fighter AGAINST any injustice or prejudice or oppression by one tribe or race or creed or gender over another. IT IS TO BE A TRUE RAINBOW WARRIOR!
“Africanism” is holding true that Africa belongs to all who live in it and who love it. That’s it.
If that is something that you believe in… then join our party…join our movement and together we shall make this Africa stronger for our children and better for all.
I thank you.

4. Patriotism: What it means to be a South African
A patriot is someone who fights for his or her country no matter what… in whatever manner he or she can. It is a person who believes in the best for his or her country and has a sense of understanding of what it means to be a free South African. Who is proud of what the country is in the world-its place-its history-its people-its achievements; and who believes in its constitution and loves its flag…who is always ready to serve his or her country and doesn’t see differences, but sees the commonality in all of its citizens. Who believes in the land of the bold and the free…South Africa, our land. Where the impossible is always possible if you only but try.
A patriotic South African is one who doesn’t see colour or party, religion or gender, status or self but sees what is good for his or her nation; and is willing to put their own interests second. Part of the challenge in our country today is our culture of “ what’s in it for me” rather than “what’s in it for my country”!!!…the youth who are free born in our country need to understand the price and the sacrifices that were made to create the new South Africa. It is for this reason that as part of our manifesto we will be advocating a credit system for school leavers whereby all can discover this sense of “otherness”…and not only school leavers but also those who have been assigned community service of less than one year by family or magistrate courts.
So for the above reasons and for the sake of pragmatism of what we advocate a 6 months of PVS- “ Patriotic Volunteer Service “ . This not only will engender self discipline in youngsters, but also assist with social and community cohesion between races, tribes, classes, genders and creeds. It is NOT a compulsory military service but a volunteer service. Not only do we; as South Africans need to come together but we also need to learn work together.
To learn about the Ubuntu spirit and “otherness”, to understand what the word” empathy “means to give for the sake of giving..And this can be acquired through service in the community fixing roads, cleaning up rubbish, nursing the sick in rural areas or teaching small children how to read and write. By volunteering we discover ourselves and each other. And by the time ones PVS is done we have built stronger characters and we have contributed to society, and become greater on so many levels. On a personal level we have grown and on a public level we have spread hope. We have learnt our “South Africaness!”
11
The hardest part for a youngster leaving school is to decide ones vocation, ones future...ones responsibility. By learning “otherness” or looking out-rather than in… we learn not to be self centered and selfish. By learning what it means to be a South African; we break through those invisible barriers and walls that exist within our minds and hearts… And by discovering more clearly our vocation we discover more clearly our destiny. By discovering others who look, act and think differently to ourselves, we” unlearn” our preconceptions and learn what it is to be a human being. To be a freeborn South African in a wonderful country. By giving unconditionally …we also receive! And the more we give…the more we receive. This is what it means to be a patriot. A patriot is a giver…not a taker.PRD
5. The Youth – How we will Empower the Youth
Every year thousands of young people complete their education and enter the marketplace. But we see in South Africa these VERY same young people disempowered by the ANC today… blackmailed at times by people who say: “show me your membership card and you will get a job!” …But these are usually just empty promises and empty threats…And the youth are made to feel inadequate because they never got the job because of their merit, their own ability. They were simply “clever”…
Those that are lucky enough to get work are usually exploited. They don’t get a living wage and they find it difficult to progress in life because they cannot further their education because of financial pressures. They may be the only breadwinner in the family… and so they stop dreaming and just start living second class lives. Others who can’t find work may even end up selling drugs or getting up to no good. Under the ANC the prospects for the youth are small. WHY? Because the ones high up don’t want to leave their powerful positions or make way for the younger generation. On the other hand there are the students at university and college who have a bursary but have to juggle study with a part time job if they can get one…
The Africa Unite Party is a YOUTH party. We believe in giving the youth a voice. We want to empower the youth and give them their hopes and dreams. How do we plan to do that?
1. For those that wish to study further and have good grades. We will not only offer free bursaries paid for by the state; but also a stipend to live on whilst studying. This will be paid for collectively from the public purse.
2. For those who wish to go into business we will offer an ABC course and mentorship with our “S.M.A.R.T. Business Centers” (Skills- Mentorship-Analysis-Research-Time/Technology). Not only will these budding entrepreneurs learn all about
12
financial literacy, but also they will be mentored from start to finish until they have succeeded in their businesses. These mentors will be recruited from the jobless.
3. For those who do not have the aptitude to go for formal education at university level or to set up their own businesses; we will create up to 1 million apprenticeship jobs and internships annually by encouraging medium to large businesses with tax incentives to accept new people for basic training for a minimum of a year.
4. For those who don’t know what they want to do we will offer a 6 month Patriotic Volunteer Service( PVS) where they will be paid a stipend to attend and receive free food and accommodation for the duration of their service to their country.
5. For those who are not suited to any of the above we will extend the ages of acceptance in the army from 23 to 30 where they can learn new skills.
6. For those students with a higher aptitude; we will send them to the best universities and colleges in the world to bring back much needed skills to our people. We will allocate 6000 places for foreign study. These students will receive a special study loan which they will pay back once they are in fulltime employment.
7. For those who have a sporting aptitude we will build the greatest SPORTS UNIVERSITY in the world that will teach all forms of sports- Rugby- Soccer-Tennis- Gymnastics-Swimming-Athletics- Basketball- etc.
8. For those youth who wish to become farmers we will create a specialized AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE that will teach commercial and organic farming.
9. For College and University graduates we will offer 10 000 volunteer places in the International Marketplace.
10. For NGOs operating in this country we will create a mapping system to fit our public service graduates needs and profile to positions of their choice. NGOs will have to comply with a minimum local intake from graduate students – as will the public service sector.
Existing colleges and universities that are below international standards will be forced to close down or shape up. Education for our youth will be the best IN Africa and we won’t bow to targets and box ticking politics. The AUP is against putting our youth in debt before they start their working life and basic education must be free for all. This includes basic university education. We not only believe it should be totally free for all but we also need to pay our university students a monthly living allowance to mitigate their financial circumstances. This is our commitment to the youth of this country. You will not starve with us. You will win!
In an Africa Unite Government we will not discriminate on race or status but give ALL South Africans the chance to succeed both in study and in the market place. The youth – ALL the youth both Black and White will be given EQUAL OPPORTUNITY. Everyone will have a chance to prosper in life and live OUT their dreams and aspirations and know that honest hard work and
13
merit always pays the best dividends in the end. We are not a second rate country and our youth deserve the best that money can buy. Our main policy for the youth is action. We don’t want to see our youth idling their lives away. We must give them every chance and every opportunity to make something out of their lives. If they are entrepreneurs we need to teach them about business, if they are scientists and technicians we need to give them good teachers, if they are sports people they need to be in an environment where they can excel and if they are not suited to college or university or the workplace…we need to make room for them in the army. A wasted youth is one of the greatest shames of our country today under the ANC. We cannot allow this continue. We must give the youth the space to breathe and to grow. We will encourage business to take on the youth by offering tax breaks and other incentives. Our youth shall not sit on their hands- nor will they beg for bread! PRD.
6.The Economy- How we plan to fix it, create jobs and GET foreign investment
The economy is in a mess. Industrial Production according to The Economist in November 2nd 2013was at nil. The worst in the developed world. It isn’t good news for South Africa that our unemployment rate is one of the highest in the world. Not only that but President Zuma is seen as an incapable leader; but also as an embarrassment to all South Africans by his shady underhanded lifestyle.
The consensus in the International Business Community is that South Africa is a bad investment at this time due to its instability, corruption and strikes. Those are the facts…
What does all of this mean?
It means jobs. Either we need to create jobs internally or we need to seek investment externally. If foreign investment has dried up and local investment has dried up… what happens to the economy? …. It dries up. And much of this has to do with bad policy and bad governance. This is the legacy of Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma and the ANC.
So what does the AUP propose?
1. The Africa Unite Party wants President Zuma to resign and will seek to impeach the president for his bad example to the world and HIS CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR to his fellow South Africans.
2. A scrapping of ALL apartheid laws that discriminate against any South African on account of the colour of their skin. We believe in EQUAL OPPORTUNITY… So any unfair advantage will be scrapped immediately.
14
3. We will promote South Africa not only as a Tourist destination but also as a Business destination by lobbying for big business to do “ business in the bush” We will combine the two sectors to promote the brand of South Africa. More confidence. More Investment. More jobs.
4. The AUP will implement the Freedom Charter principle of redistribution of wealth- not by nationalization. But by Privatization. In other words all South Africans will be issued with the equivalent of R100 000 of shares in our nations PUBLIC Sector companies such as Eskom and PRIVATE multinational Companies such as Anglo. The existing “owners” will become “operators “and be paid for their trouble.
The investment value of the company will be retained for 5 years until the share price is stabilized – and should they then desire to sell off that value it will be bought OUT at the market price. This is more than what these companies deserve because of their history of exploitation; but in the interest of stability; and good business they will be paid out should they wish to sell out.
The wealth of this country will be in the hands of the people. This is non-negotiable. The share distribution will stipulate that for the first year the shares cannot be sold. During this transition time the market price will stabilize. All employees of mines, banks and public sector companies will also be given share options should the main operators or shareholders desire to sell off their shareholding immediately.
These companies will not be in the hands of the state but will become public limited companies owned by the people of this nation. The companies will operate as a committee as normal but answerable to all the shareholders…as normal.
But the state will not own the company or run it. It will be run by capable, appointed professional managers resourced by a Central Economic Committee in charge of the liberation of our nation’s wealth. Unions will be replaced by Labor Committees since workers will own the company they work in. Thus unions will become redundant.
Should the principle shareholders desert en masse they will be replaced by experts or foreign investors who wish to invest in our mines and banks. But the people will benefit in a onetime public offering by the redistribution of these shares. This will show the people of this country that they too own the wealth of this land and its resources. What they do with their share certificates is up to them. If they squander it; it’s their choice. If
15
they invest it in other parts of the economy…it’s also up to them. This is to show the people of South Africa that the AUP is committed to the Freedom Charter.
5. The key to fixing this economy IS to create wealth…put spending in the hands of the people…and to break the power of the cartels…but this is NOT the foundation.
The AUP is committed to breaking the stranglehold of all the cartels and monopolies in this land and fighting for economic freedom FOR ALL. But it has to be done in the right manner. In the right way.
We cannot have chaos or anarchy. Changing the laws to encourage competition and bring in antitrust laws to free the economy…. This is only part of the story…and part of our Employment Enterprise Programme AND The Empowerment Charter with the people. But the main way we will rebuild this economy is by teaching financial literacy. We are going to bring in a compulsory financial literacy class for all matriculants in our country. We need to give people the ammunition to cope with the stresses and the strain of everyday life… money is the root of all evil…but KNOWLEDGE is its antidote.
Germany rebuilt itself from the ashes of Second World war within 10 years because of the skills and the knowledge – and of course it’s hard work and some loans… but it was essentially its human resource that caused it to rebuild… as Poland AFTER Communism in 1990…as Japan after the Atomic bomb in 1945… as Israel … the common thread was knowledge… so we will be transferring skills in this nation through our “SMART business centers” and our EEP ( Employment Enterprise Programme ) WHICH WILL BE OPEN TO ALL.
6. The AUP has devised a revolutionary method for improving the economy. We call it “Mapping”. Using software solutions architects and entrepreneurial and other technical computer architects and systems analysts we will “MAP “the entire economy!!! That’s right… MAP IT!
We will digitalize it and make its data accessible for everyone. We will analyze every registered business, every para-statal organization, every NGO, every NPO and any other society or organization, church or association and every government department. – What it does, what it sells-what it buys and its gross annual turnover or purchasing power.
We will also map the needs of individuals in our country- what they buy- what they consume and what they do. The idea of this is to open up the economy to each other and to new business. To create a high tech customized formula for knowing what is going on
16
in the economy at any time and what the economy needs from government. And we will make it easy to use for anyone with a basic education.
NO other party is doing this. We will MAP the economy and make this data available to new startups and SMEs... By doing this we will also do away with costly consultants who waste tax payer’s money. This method will create greater wealth and abundance for the country and thousands of new sustainable jobs by saving millions in unnecessary consultants and reports.
Mapping will help new business to predict the future and to plan ahead creating greater confidence and more stable permanent jobs!
By mapping the economy it will give us the ability to identify problems almost instantly and assist in long-term planning. Not only that; we will be able to create formulas for economic success in all sectors of the economy. There will be no room for failure. And THAT is what we all want!
7. The AUP will improve communications within South Africa and make free or low cost Wi-Fi available to all- in any region of South Africa. This will increase the potential for business and commerce-especially SMEs…and improve the possibilities for all South African to trade and be educated online. It is a proven fact that the more you have access to communication…the more you open up the economy.
We have the infrastructure and it can be done. Hong Kong and many other cities around the world already have free Wi-Fi access for all. We should aspire for low cost or free Wi-Fi to improve access to the economy by the people. Our tariffs at the moment are higher than the UK and Germany who are first world economies. Why? …Greed.
8. The final ingredient to economic revival in this country is fiscal discipline and a freeing up of the economy by reducing unnecessary taxes or scrapping them altogether to encourage business to thrive. We also need to know where our taxes are being spent and how. At the moment we don’t.
I will be going into that in the tax section. We also need to free up exchange control regulations and make it easier to invest or disinvest at any time- or to trade in foreign currencies. This will create even greater confidence in our economy and make doing business here far easier. We will also introduce a purchase tax which will replace other unnecessary taxes and put more money into the economy.( More of that in our tax section)
17
9.To summarize:
1. Get rid of the bad apples. Starting with Zuma.
2. Scrap all apartheid laws. Everything.
3. Mix business with pleasure in the bush. Target high end net worth tourists/investors by doing “business in the bush”.
4. Privatisation of mines, banks and public sector business and the distribution of shares to all South Africans.
5. Teach financial literacy and encourage SMEs through business hubs or centers in the townships.
6. Radicalizing the tax system to encourage business to make more money and opening up the country for investment.
7. We need to make it easy to start new businesses and we need to make it easy to operate here in this country for foreign investors. We must offer them incentives to set up manufacturing plants and create tax free zones for international traders. We need to put money into the economy and encourage spending on locally manufactured goods. And we will introduce a purchase tax to replace income tax and a development incentive tax to replace or reduce company tax.
8.We need to transfer more skills and more business knowledge. We need to invest in creating new enterprise. There must be a large public fund available for small and medium startups. The AUP is committed to creating 1 million new starts ups; and to 100% financial literacy rates by 2039. It is NOT an impossible goal if we work together. We can if we THINK-BELIEVE AND KNOW WE CAN! We can if we think we can… we will if we have the will!
9. If we fix the economy we will fix just about everything else. On a final note; corrupt officials found guilty in a court of law must be punished publicly. They must be humiliated…They must go to jail! They must be named and shamed. And they must pay all the money back. We need to show the world we are NOT a third world country and NOT a second rate economy. We need to show the business community that they can have confidence in our laws and our people. This is the road or the path to prosperity!
10. The free rides are over. We will give the South African people a better deal than the ANC has done. That is our promise to you, THE PEOPLE!
We will provide a new contract; an” Empowerment Charter” with the people and we will not let them down. We will not let you down.
18
We can; if United we STAND…!
Together we ARE stronger! PRD
7.Service Delivery- How we plan to improve it.
We all know the problems. Municipalities not doing their job or saying there’s no money…and yet we see many such ANC run municipalities like in Greytown or Rustenberg or Randfontein or Bekkersdal ignoring the plight of the people. The AUP is committed to:
1. Legal action against corrupt or inept officials.
2. Mapping who does what. Who is responsible for what.
3. A 24 -7 hotline on our website where service delivery problems will be reported. A whistleblowers hotline. We will also have on our website space for any evidence of corruption or wrongdoing.
4. Paving every road in every township and every informal settlement.
5. Building good houses – not matchbox homes – that people can be proud of.
6. Building good schools and clinics in the community.
7. Ensuring clean sanitation to deal with human waste and drinking water. We are looking at ecological toilets that will not affect the water table or affect the overall health of the community at large.
8. Police officers walking the street. Make people feel safer in their communities.
9. An end to South Africa’s “shack culture” and an end to its “ gang and drug culture” by offering “get out “alternatives…taking transformation to the people. Using the Tanzanian model of streetwatch community officers ( SCOs) who liaise with the local council or police to improve service delivery in that particular street.
10. Local emergency power stations that will guarantee adequate power supplies. No more load shedding.
Every party promises better service delivery but doesn’t implement it. Why are we any different? Because we are a 21st century high tech party that will not only make problems in the community visible to the right people… but ensure if they don’t do it they answer for it in court. We have a highly skilled legal team of advocates and lawyers that will take anyone who is not doing their jobs …to court. And if local courts don’t listen to us we will take it to higher courts until our grievances are listened to. But we will also partner with local businesses to improve service delivery where possible. If there are genuine reasons why things are not getting done; we will consult face to face with the people as mediators and find solutions. If it’s a lack of money we will go to central government and find out why.
If its corruption we will identify who is responsible and get them replaced and sacked. If its mismanagement we will hire the necessary consultants to put better systems in place… but we
19
will get it sorted! If it laziness… we will boot someone’s ass! They are public servants and they work for you!- the taxpayer.
8.Health, Education, Training & Social Welfare- What is our plan?
As we have said earlier in our manifesto. Our First contract with the people is an Economic Contract ; The Second Is a Social Contract and the Third an Educational Contract. However; some fields crossover into the next. People need to be educated to be empowered. Others need basic social care to be able to learn. It all works together. But the key is the economy. Once this is sorted out more funds will be available for better health, education and social welfare.
That doesn’t mean to say that the AUP will ignore these very important issues.
We are committed to:
1. HomeLoans. Ensuring low interest home loans for all key workers. The job they do in the public service sector is vital and they should be giving every assistance to own their own homes. For any other budding homeowner who cannot afford the deposit or cannot meet high monthly payments… the state will create a deposit guarantee system to assist low income families to own their own home up to R500 000.
2. Key workers. Key workers in public services will be paid well. They will not be short changed.
3. National Health Insurance( NHI).Every South African deserves good health care. The government has failed to rollout universal health insurance. The AUP WILL LOBBY THE GOVERNMENT TO DO IT- even if it means taking them to the constitutional court to get it done. We need good healthcare for all and we have the means to provide it.
4. Social help. The AUP will replace social grants with Social Credits. We will give every unemployed South African the dignity of human life by ensuring they are paid a weekly stipend until they are gainfully employed. This will reduce crime and improve social values. No one needs to go to bed hungry in our country.
5. Single parents. We will assist single mothers and fathers with free day care so they can earn extra income during the day. These government daycare centers will enable and empower those mothers and fathers who otherwise would be unable to work.
6. Free Schools and home schools. All government schools will be free. All registered homeschools will receive government subsidies. There will be no more burdensome school fees! Every child should receive a good education in the New South Africa. Matric standards will not be reduced to meet state targets ;and lazy students will have to
20
repeat their year. This is to ensure we improve the standards of education and literacy in our country. To reward excellence.
7. Disability. Special needs students will also be given the opportunity to study. All schools, hospitals and colleges will have disability access
8. More Teachers. More Teacher training colleges will be built to meet the increased demands on schools.
9. Good healthcare. Hospitals will be free and will be regularly inspected to meet international standards of hygiene and service.
10. The family. Domestic, sexual & other family violence and issues will be tackled by family mediation centers (FMC) and trained psychologists and forensic counsellors to find the best way to keep families together. Social workers will only in VERY extreme cases bring in police and the courts. Their primary goal will be family unity and reconciliation first.
11. We will teach life skills and financial literacy in all high schools.
12. We will eradicate poverty and poverty mindsets in this nation. We will dismantle all informal settlements and replace them with emergency or low cost housing until people can afford better. We will ensure illegal immigrants and refugees are afforded the best care in special centers where their applications will be processed.
9.Crime &Corruption- How we plan to reduce it.
1. Every child will be taught at school the South African Constitution , the Freedom Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and tested on it at matric level!
2. The AUP will offer financial rewards for whistleblowers that expose any public servant from a traffic officer to the president. We will offer cash money for evidence of any corruption or criminal activity by government officials. More info on this can be found on our website. Once the evidence has been verified the whistleblower will be paid out. We will once they are found guilty name and shame the offenders in the community where they live. Corruption is a serious crime and we need to treat it seriously.
3. South Africa has a culture of corruption and crime which needs to be changed. But to change this culture is not going to be easy. It has to start with education at school-level. Conscietisation in life Skills Classes. Then it has to find itself in patriotism. That is why we are suggesting 6 months Patriotic Volunteer or community Service. But it cannot be compulsory at this level. Finally, we need to uproot the weeds from the garden. All those in the public sector who are practicing corruption need to be uprooted. But it’s not just in the public sector. Ghettoes such as Hillbrow have to be cleaned out from the Nigerian drug lords. These syndicates must be dismantled and destroyed once and for all.. But the best solution against crime is to give every South African …DIGNITY…a job.
21
4. We need to create national wide conferences to deal with deep-rooted problems in the psyche of our country…starting with a “ Forgiveness & Reconciliation Conference that will invite the so called
“Criminals “themselves who can give their point of view. We also need to appoint Streetwatch Community Officers ( SCOs) -Who can assist to reduce crime in their own areas by notifying police of criminal activity and assist in service delivery issues.
6. We need to reform prisons into rehabilitative centers rather than universities of crime. The AUP believes prison reform is key in reducing crime in this country. We have the 9th Largest prison population in the world. We also need to find ways of eradicating drugs in our communities that lead to petty crime- especially in the Western Cape. More Drug Rehabilitation Centres need to be built around the country that can offer help to people wanting to turn their lives around.
And to this end the AUP will work with community and church leaders to put an end to this drug & gangland culture. We will utilize Stalinist deportation strategies if necessary to break the stranglehold of drugs and crime in our country and break territorial deadlocks... People found guilty of committing crimes for gangs will be deported from their communities with their immediate families and relocated to another province and re-housed there for a 5 year exclusionary period.
They will be assisted to change their names should they request it for their own protection.
Permanent Banishment Orders will be given on repeat offenders. Gangs are a community issue and even if an individual wants to get out…often he just can’t for fear of his life.
Any foreign national found guilty of drug crimes will be immediately deported to their own country. We will not even pay for their incarceration beyond the deportation centre. Let them go peddle their drugs somewhere else. If it is a violent crime against a South African Citizen; they will serve their sentences here and may apply half way through to serve the rest in their home countries.
7. All shall have free access to justice if arrested or if wronged by anyone. All shall be guaranteed a fair trial and have the right to appeal. We need to roll out legal aid to also cover civil suits involving disputes with banks, insurance companies or other companies. The AUP supports reform in the legal aid system…and as for punishment of offenders….
We need some strong medicine to put things right in our country… and the AFRICA UNITE PARTY will have zero tolerance on criminal activities and corruption. To put it right …we must all be salt and light! This is for our children.
10.The Future- How we plan to design it.
The future for our country is bright if we can get it right!!!
22
The ANC will not be with us until Jesus comes… They have broken their contract with the people and they have squandered their inheritance. We believe it will take another 10-15 years to fully Conscientise the people of this nation through education and the dissemination of good reliable information. It is not an overnight thing. But it will happen.
We will get a new government…and it will probably be the DA if they are able to transform themselves sufficiently and gain the trust of the people. The problem is that their policies are still seen as too rightist. Too “bigbusinessey…”too white”…too “capitalist”…this country needs an electric shock to the arm…part of the problem IS big business and we need the will to correct them. The AUP has that will...The DA don’t.
The Africa Unite Party has a vision to be at least the official opposition of this country within 20 years. We intend to be the third option, the third way for the South African voter. Our strategy is to start at municipal level by 2016 in government with one or two national seats and a few parliamentary seats by 2019. We will be where the DA is today in 10 years or less.
In the meantime we will be developing our relationships with other stakeholders on the continent of Africa from Cape to Cairo and from Johannesburg to Jerusalem. We intend through the Africa Unite Movement (AUM) to light a wildfire across Africa that will ignite the long awaited African dawn. The African Renaissance. The future of this party is up to you…the voter...The electorate…it will become what you want it to become…this manifesto is just a template.
We already have a great team of people on board …but we need more professionals …and amateurs …to give their advise on the future of our country…we are here to listen to you! So we ask for feedback- as Elon Musk (the South African billionaire who invented PayPal once said):” I love negative feedback...It keeps me humble!”
This party is a participatory organization where everyone is valued and everyone’s voice counts. That’s how we plan to design the future… with you!
11.Housing, sanitation, roads, municipal and community issues
The AUP will:
1. Build more community centers for the youth and the community to utilize as a meeting place and as a social interaction between people living in the community.
2. We will build better child and family friendly parks for kids and parents. Every child should have the facility to play.
3. All roads in all townships will be tarred.
23
4. All homes shall have clean water and hygienic sanitation. There will no longer be long drops and bucket toilets in our country.
5. We will not build RDP homes that look like matchboxes. We will build decent homes for all and create more jobs by constructing around 1 million DECENT new homes until everyone is housed (That includes apartment blocks). We are short of around 5 -10 million new homes over the next 10 years. We will replace all shanty towns with good settlements and with running hot and cold water and electricity and tarred roads. Substandard housing will be destroyed and replaced.
6. We will root out corruption in municipalities and we will map the people with responsibilities and their job descriptions.
7. Community leaders will meet regularly to discuss issues involving the community and Streetwatch Community Officers will be appointed to assist in social cohesion and service delivery.
8. Funding for VITAL improvements in high density settlements will come from a Development Incentive Scheme DIS( See Tax section)as well as external funding sources available from the European Union and the IMF.
Our policy on housing is to ensure every South African has a decent home with hot and cold water, good sanitation and good roads. No one should be homeless in our country. These things are our social right and we need to enforce them. The AUP is committed to this goal for as long as it takes.
12.The Freedom Charter – How we plan to implement it.
“THE PEOPLE SHALL GOVERN”- What wrong with that? If you read through the charter you will see it is not a communistic document but a human one. Today we may have political liberation but we don’t have economic liberation…thanks to the ANC…who hasn’t implemented the principles of the Freedom Charter. “South Africa belongs to all its peoples” – What’s wrong with that?
But the real trouble comes with the statement that “The wealth of the land belongs to its people” – again… what’s wrong with that? The Africa Unite Party has seen the devastation of the cartels, monopolies and banks on creating an uncompetitive society. It is part of the reason why we have so many people out of work… we are dependent on the whims of big business and world markets.
In America they brought in what is known as “Antitrust laws to combat cartels who want everything for themselves and stifle healthy competition. For too long the people in
24
government have been hoodwinked by the captains of industry and the Randlords to maintain strict price fixing and a non competitive environment.
We don’t advocate nationalization as the EFF do… we advocate privatization of the big companies and cartels and a liberalization of the economy by changing the laws that protect these pigs. Their hold on the people of this country must end. We don’t need them beyond the day to day operation of the machinery of enterprise. That’s it. And they are welcome to get paid a salary for it. But they are parasites on the people of this land and have abused it for more than a century. For far far too long. They must either play ball or go.
The ANC have sold out to them and they took the golden handshake. They can no longer be trusted to liberalize the economy once and for all; and to implement the freedom charter. The DA is not much different. They are financed by them. The AUP like the EFF are committed to implementing the principles of the Freedom Charter and opening up this country’s economy to competition for all. An example:
Our second hand cars are the most expensive in the world…why? Because of a cartel controlling the importation of cheap second hand cars into his country. Nothing has changed in 20 years.
Why? Because the ANC has put itself before the people. That’s why we have a high rate of hijacking and a high accident rate… our cars are too old and people can’t afford newer ones. The AUP guarantees cheap second hand cars for every South African. No longer do you have to be squashed up in a taxi if you vote the AUP. We will break this cartel. We are tired of being ripped off.
And that goes for the liquor industry… one company- SAB distributes 90% of our beer. Sappi- Mondi PRODUCES 95% OF OUR PAPER. De beers and Anglo – 80% of our gold- diamonds and platinum… and what are they doing with their head office in London? We could of course go into other companies owned by subsidiaries Portland Cement, Sun International, KWV, Times Media, Rand Goldfields etc.
And the government laws from apartheid times protect these thieves. Its cheaper to buy paper from Scotland and Canada than from South AFRICA…WHY? Then our banks… we have the most profitable banks and the highest banks charges in the world…WHY?... the story goes on and on and on… we are being ripped off daily and the ANC is protecting them. This must end. This is corruption on a grand scale…
25
As for land redistribution…The AUP believes that many of these monopolies like SAPPI- Mondi and other cartels have land that is doing nothing… is unproductive…as does the government … but to take productive land that commercial farmers are using to farm with is a bad idea.
The only other reason for taking productive land away is because it has a historical significance. In any case it is important to implement land justice as this is something that will not go away. As for the rest of the Freedom Charter… it’s just asking for the right to be treated like a human being …and there’s nothing wrong with that. All South Africans should be treated with dignity and respect. But to use this document to achieve political points like what the EFF are doing… is wrong. We can implement the charter but it needs to be done in a democratic and fair manner that will not disrupt the economy.
So a vote for the AUP will not be wasted. We will implement the Freedom Charter and bring true economic freedom to this land. And we will lobby for a change in the laws until it is done.
13.Sports, Parks, Recreation & the Environment- What can we do to improve them?
The AUP is committed to:
1. Better sports facilities for all and family parks in high density suburbs. Children need better playgrounds and we will build them
2. A sports university in a newly created city to be built half way between Johannesburg and Cape Town near Lesotho.
3. Our national parks belong to the people but very few have ever visited them. We need to implement school outings to Kruger Park for students to encourage a love for animals and the environment. Many South Africans never get a chance to see our wildlife because it is too expensive. We need to change this culture and open up our national parks to local tourists. We should reduce prices for locals in parks like Kruger and Addo Elephant and other points of national interest like Table Mountain to show the people that nature belongs to us all.
If we encourage our people to love animals like the Rhino they will be poached less. Camp sites should be opened up in our parks to allow South Africans on a budget to bring their families to see our wildlife. It’s not just for foreign tourists. This policy has
26
worked well in Zimbabwe but has been ignored here in South Africa and now we are reaping the rewards of our greed and ignorance.
4. We also need to build more recreational centers and community centers in our townships and suburbs to encourage more social cohesion in the community so people can integrate more.
5. Environmental sciences and awareness needs to be taught more at schools in our country and in our communities. We need to get a green agenda and move away from coal fired power plants to more sustainable sources of power. The AUP supports transnational treaties on power consumption from the Congo and also Solar, wind and hydroelectric power plants to replace existing coal plants. We also support solar subsidized panels to be put on private homes to cut down the nation wide demand for power and fossil fuels.
6. We are against any part of our land or seas to be used as a dumping ground for industrial or nuclear waste. We also support environmental technologies that reduce the usage of plastics and other non recyclable agents.
7. The support the carbon tax system used already around the world to reduce toxic emissions into the atmosphere from factories and industrial plants.
8. The AUP supports community education on protecting the environment and recycling our household waste and not littering. We believe this culture needs to start at school level and should also include better eating habits and environmental awareness through bush school trips into places of natural beauty. An appreciation for nature is the beginning of environmental education. This needs to happen at primary and high school levels.
South Africa has much sporting talent that is currently being underutilized. It is important to build the facilities in our communities that will give our young adults the opportunities to excel in whatever sport they choose. To this end we need to create more recreational and sports facilities nationwide.
Sports are a way of reducing crime and encouraging community cohesion. The AUP doesn’t support any quota system that reduces our competitiveness but rather believes in equal opportunity. As for the environment and our parks we need to protect it by opening them up to the poorest of the poor. Ask the majority of South Africans …Have you ever been to Kruger Park?...and the majority- around 80% will say ..NO! This is so sad. We also need to teach environmentalism at school level to give people an idea of what it means to pollute the planet. It is so important for the future wellbeing of all in our country and the AUP believes these things to need to change.
27
14. Gender, LGBT, Disability, Mental Health and Transformational issues – How we can make South Africa a TRULY Rainbow Nation!?
The AUP welcomes all who have a belly button…and I’m sure if you don’t have one… well make an exception! There are about 2.5 million LGBT people in South Africa. They are who they are from choice. But it doesn’t make them different to the rest of us. They have the same rights as us. Often we don’t see it that way. Often we discriminate on that level. And we have seen this in the old South Africa. As for people with mental health issues… it is more than we could possibly imagine.
Many estimate those with PTSD( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) to be around 5 million- never mind those with other mental health issues( Psychosis, Depression, schizophrenia etc). The fact is not much is done about mental health in this country ;and the AUP wants to champion this cause in the future -and will if elected; give more resources towards help for those with any kind of mental or physical disability. . I have seen some of the mental health institutions in South Africa…And some are pretty dire. Many are simply warehouses for the ill. They have little chance of recovery and are left to rot in these places for years. In Howick I came across some inmates that had been there for over 50 years!
Our policy is one of freedom and empowerment and equal rights. If we see any cases of discrimination we will advocate for and on behalf any of the above.
As far as gender issues are concerned. We believe that all genders should be treated equally both in the criminal justice system and in the family court system and custody should not always be granted to the mother automatically as it was in the past. We are against violence against women and we believe that more dialogue is required between genders and sexual preferences. Interventions by family mediators are necessary to avoid breakdowns of families. And gender wars are not the answer to a worldwide problem between genders.
We believe as the AUP that we need to convene a national Forgiveness & Reconciliation Conference to discuss these complex issues. That is the issues of family, gender, sexual, racial , religious and economic violence. We believe by interacting between each other we will educate society and bring a climate of greater tolerance. Our NEC consists of 20 secretaries who govern the main issues of our nation. The AUP has a Secretary for LGBT issues (David) as well as Gender & Disability issues .We feel it is a very important concern amongst many that they are not treated equally. As far as those that are physically disabled…we will commit ourselves to making South Africa the most accessible nation in Africa for the disabled by writing into law that all public places should have disability access!
28
We are not going to grandstand in this manifesto and promise things we cannot deliver. But we will say this…if you have a legal case of discrimination in the workplace or otherwise or you’ve been assaulted or sexually abused we will assist you with finding the right avenues for proper counseling and treatment or with legal assistance.
The AUP believes wholeheartedly that no sector of our demography should be discriminated against… and that is why we have taken a stand against the farm murders and racially motivated violence in any form in this country. The AFRICA UNITE Party IS A UNITY PARTY NOT A POLARISING PARTY.!
We embrace everyone and we believe to make this country a real rainbow nation we need all the colors of the rainbow. Together we are stronger!
Thank you. PRD.
15. International Relations, Africanism, Defense & Developmental issues- What’s the way forward?
Thabo Mbeki was a great advocate of Africanism – so much so that he decided to spend- or should I say…overspend our money on arms rather than look after hundreds of thousands of his fellow South Africans dying of HIV aids… they didn’t get their antiretroviral drugs…and they died needlessly…what’s more the items bought were over-inflated so that him and his cronies could get their cut and get re-elected into power.. So I don’t have much time for Mr. Mbeki. He has a lot to answer for.
But he did one thing right. He put this country on the map as leader of the African renaissance. He understood that the survival of the future of this country would one day depend on the rest of Africa and its resources. We are currently experiencing an energy crisis. This was because Mbeki believed that the hydroelectric dams in the Congo would be finished by the Americans and would supply all our energy needs. He was wrong. Naively wrong. He should have secured this country’s needs first before depending on America’s promises. The AUP will work closely with the Congo in future to develop our foreign interests there and to secure our energy needs... But also to assist with defense, security and development in that country. We believe the time of the warlord is over and they need to be reined in. We will use our defense forces to help the legitimate government in Kinshassa succeed in rooting them out.
However, the future for sub-Saharan Africa and sub equatorial Africa will require new treaties and much cross border trade and traffic. We need to open up the borders more
29
within SADC countries and create our own little “mini European union”. South Africans should be able to trade, travel and invest freely and even to reside in any SADC country… And the AUP is committed to lobbying all the SADC countries to open up their borders to South Africa. We would also like the SADC (Southern African Developing Countries) to be extended to the Congo, Angola and Rwanda- Burundi- .
To conclude:
The AUP believes:
1. In free and open borders within Sub-Saharan Africa as Europe already enjoys. This should be extended to North Africa once it works in the SADC region and the Sub Saharan region. It should be done incrementally.
2. A reduction or an end in foreign purchases of weapons and armaments. Denel is quite capable of providing state of the art equipment that we need in our defense force and this money should be spent more wisely to uplift our people. We have no foreign threat imminent.
3. A widening of our territorial interests in the Antarctica. We need to lobby for a new treaty governing how the resources including fishing rights are granted. Our nation needs to improve its fishing industry as it will bring billions into our economy and create more jobs for all.
4. We need to invest in our energy future by building solar farms in the Karoo, hydroelectric dams in Angola and the Congo, and wind farms in the Cape. We need to be free of coal fired plants by 2034 and we need to stop exporting electricity to other states when we don’t have enough for ourselves. Also the fuel prices need to reduced to kick start our hard-pressed economy. Why is our fuel prices higher than Namibia’s or Botswana when we supply them!!!?
5. We support the Saharawi struggle and the dismantling of the apartheid sand wall keeping them out of their homeland in Western Sahara. We ask the King of Morocco to return the land that was stolen from the Saharawi people and grant them their freedom and independence forthwith.
6. We support the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian – Israeli question and the dismantling of the apartheid wall dividing the two communities. We support the creation of a 3 state solution with Jerusalem belonging to both Palestine and Israel and administered by residents of Jerusalem. Israel is part of geological Africa and is close to our hearts. The AUP supports the existence of both Israel and Palestine as two separate countries living in peace with Jerusalem as a city state like the Vatican in Rome.
30
7. The AUP is against eTolls and any other freeway tolls in our country. We believe our road taxes should grant us the right to drive on the roads free of charge. We need to elp the trucking industry.
8. We support a free Tibet and we ask China to grant this country their independence. We also recognize Taiwan. We hope to represent all Chinese people in Africa and to act as a mediator for better racial relations in future between Africans and Chinese.
9. The AUP supports the Africa Unite Movement to build better bridges across Africa and beyond. We hope it will inspire other Africans to start their own AUPs in their own countries and to this end we hope to work together for more pan-Africanist solidarity.
10. We need to open up our economy to foreign investment and business and to promote greater harmony across the African continent with all of her peoples. We need to offer more incentives and create a better environment for our skilled people in this country to remain here and not immigrate. We need to reform the public sector and to open this country up to more competition. We need to create duty free economic zones like in Jordan and in North Africa; and we need to relax exchange control conditions so we can trade internationally without any trouble... The AUP supports Bill Gates vision for a Malaria free Africa and for a Free WIFI zone over Africa. This will create more wealth and prosperity for all Africans. We will continue to work closer with the BRICSi nations and we will invite foreign volunteers and NGO’s to work and assist with development work. We will make it easy for them to register their organizations and to bring volunteers here to volunteer by creating Freedom Hostels all around Africa starting in Cape Town which will facilitate these activities.
The AUP believes the only way forward is to turn Africa into an entity that can negotiate better deals with the rest of the world. We also support the vision of an “African Embassy” in countries where the cost of running an individual state embassy is too high. These embassies will represent sub-Saharan Africa initially but later the entire continent – all in one building! For example In Kazakhstan – our “Africa Embassy “will negotiate better oil prices and have representatives from over 10 Africans Nations… increasing where necessary. In smaller countries there it is not necessary to take on all the costs of running an embassy.
This is the way forward… working with the rest of Africa to make Africa a business, investment and tourism destination. I thank you. PRD.
16. A living wage for all- is it achievable? What is a fair days pay for a fair days work?
31
At present there is not an across the board minimum living wage in this country and as a result many people are being exploited for their work.
The AUP has looked at the consumer index for this country and the average costs of living across the board. It has come to the conclusion that a living wage can only be calculated per hour worked. Thus for unskilled or semi –skilled labor the minimum living wage should be around R20 per hour. At present it is around R10.
The only reasons companies are not paying this is 1. High taxes and 2. Greed. The cost of living and inflation in recent times has put more and more pressures on households. The ANC has not guaranteed a living wage for all…nor has it implemented it. It is just words on their part. The problem is that because there is such a high unemployment rate they can pay less to their workers.
This is neither fair, right or just. But it is not only the employers fault… it is also the ANC. They need to give more tax relief to companies to employ more people. They don’t.
The AUP believes in a living wage for all irrespective of their skills. Whether they are simple cleaners, gardeners or domestic workers. They should be paid a wage that is just and fair. If the average work day is 8 hours they will get paid a gross of R160 per day or R800 per 5 day week or R3200 per month. At present workers at Spar get R2500 for a 6 day week. This is not fair.
For skilled labor the living wage should be higher per hour- but it should all be calculated on a consumer price index formula. R20 per hour is only $2 USD. The cost of living is not half that of the United States or the UK. Some things in fact are equal in cost and even higher …and on average the cost of living in South Africa is only around 30% less than the above countries- food is the same- transport the same- communication is higher- housing is lower- clothing is the same- yet the living wages are far lower. Something is wrong. Part of it is down to exploitation and the other is down to high taxation. In the end …the worker is getting screwed. The AUP wants to end that.
The AUP believes it can; once the economy is properly mapped come up with appropriate living wages across the board in every industry according to the market value of that labour. There is a common formula. However, the AUP advocates a minimum living wage at this time of R20 per hour for unskilled labor and it should be implemented across the board.
32
17.The land grab and nationalization- is it good for our country? - How can we repair our apartheid past?
The AUP categorically rejects an arbitrary land grab or nationalization of our mines, banks and public companies.
1. Our farmers feed us. We must look after them. Land claims must be dealt with by the courts and land can be given to individuals who have been wronged from the government stock. Productive farms must be left alone.
2. Mines and banks need to privatized by a share offering and shared amongst all South Africans. Running of the banks and the mines should continue as it is and workers in those companies will be offered an incentive to stay employed. This can be in the form of additional shares.
3. Once this process is completed the unions must be disbanded as they will no longer be necessary.
4. We need to restore to those who have been wronged in the apartheid days land and if not land …money. But we cannot hurt our fragile economy like what happened in Zimbabwe with the land invasions. It will be disastrous for our nation. The farmers will leave the country and farm somewhere else.
5. Those majority shareholders who benefitted in the old apartheid South Africa because of their skin colour should be forced to sell their shares at the same price that they paid for them. Those that unduly benefitted from the new South Africa on account of their skin colour should also be forced to sell their shares at the price they paid for them. A NEW DEAL FOR THE PEOPLE MEANS JUST THAT…A NEW DEAL! We need to level the playing field for all South Africans and give every South African a stake in the economy through ownership of its wealth.
This is not about capitalistic economic principles; this is about making things right.
18. Social Security and Health Insurance- how do we deliver effective care for all our sick, disabled, the aged, vulnerable, marginalized and poor.
All of this has to do with a Universal National Insurance (UNI/NHI- National Health Insurance). We need to create a National Insurance number system which will be a prerequisite to employment in this country.
33
This will ensure everyone is paid a pension when they get to retirement age , this will ensure that everyone is treated in a good hospital and everyone who finds themselves unemployed for whatever reason… is looked after with a weekly stipend that will keep them from suffering the privations of poverty. Every person in South Africa must pay a monthly National Insurance to qualify for help or assistance… and even if they are unemployed and can’t pay in … they should still get their NHI card. We can cut crime in half if we look after our poorest of the poor.
We need to understand the impact it has on our entire system if we don’t look after the most vulnerable and marginalized in our society. There is a knock on effect right across the board… our criminal justice system, our prisons, our social and probation services, our police…. It all costs money to process criminals..Even petty criminals.
We never to prevent crime by helping those in need. Every South African must have enough to food to eat and the ability to be attended to by a doctor if sick. Medicines should be free to those who are living on the bread line. This is around R2000 per month.
The AUP believes the sooner we get this in place, the sooner we will be able to deliver effective care to our most vulnerable. Basic healthcare and social services should not just be a social right but a human one too. We have NO excuse not to implement it. The ANC has dragged their feet for too long on this issue.
19.Taxes - How much should we pay?
It is common for a failed socialist government who taxes and spends to hinder or stifle economic growth. This has happened with the ANC regime. Their answer to everything is to tax more and spend more…resulting in a top-heavy administration that runs around like a headless chicken trying to figure out why everything is going wrong. The truth is they have stolen and wasted taxpayer’s money on a wholesale basis that the South African public are not even fully aware of. SARS has seen its “arse” by collecting 11% of some taxes and reflecting only 6%... where has the balance of their tax revenue gone too? No one knows.
The AUP believes” INCOME TAX” should be replaced by a “PURCHASE TAX”… It is a radical tax system that encourages people to earn more and spend more…resulting in more tax revenue and a healthier economy.
In fact Italy and America are considering implementing it soon.
34
The other tax change that the AUP will make is on COMPANY TAX of 28%. Again it discourages earning and encourages a slowdown in spending. We suggest a Development Incentive Tax or “UBUNTU TAX “of 25%to encourage companies to take on apprentices and interns and to help create jobs in the public sector through public works. Eg Building homes. We will use it for rebuilding this nation.
So will this reduce the public coffers? No not necessarily. In fact those people that dodge income tax in the informal sector will end up making the shortfall through the implementation of the PURCHASE tax…in fact the coffers could even be filled more!!! Spending will increase and declarable income will increase leading to greater prosperity for all and more informal jobs for all AND …more spending…
We will of course continue to tax on goods and petrol except basic foods like milk and bread, mealy meal and rice. But to get our economy moving we will need to reduce the petrol price by reducing the amount of tax on petrol thereby reducing transport costs and food costs. Another failed ANC policy has been to raise the petrol price to get more tax revenues…it has only slowed down the economy and put more economic hardship on people’s shoulders…the ANC don’t care… they need the cash to stay in power!
Sales Tax will continue at the same levels- but an additional purchase tax will be added which will bump up the basic point of sale tax to around 22%. Whilst the costs of goods will be reduced by the savings across the board; the basic increase will be minimal. All it will mean is that the amount of tax will be higher and the average person on the street will be better off.
The AUP believes that not only do we need an UBUNTU TAX to improve service delivery and create new jobs…but we also need to educate our people and build better facilities and universities, colleges and academies. For this we will levy a 2 % EDUCATION TAX on luxury goods such as alcohol, cigarettes and chocolates to deliver knowledge to the people. And finally we intend to create jobs through our EMPLOYEMENT ENTERPRISE PROGRAMME (EEP) so we will include an EEP TAX of 3 % on everything we import from other countries.
To summarize:
1. Replacement of Income Tax with a Purchase tax of 22% ( Inclusive of Existing Sales Tax/VAT)
35
2. Introduction of National Health Insurance of 3% of income.
3. Replacement of Company Tax with UBUNTU Tax of 25%
4. Educational Tax on Luxury goods of 2%
5. Employment Enterprise (EEP)Tax Of 3%
Making it easier for people to spend more money in the economy will give it the jumpstart it needs and the confidence it lacks. At the same time it will not prevent the government from implementing its reconstruction and development programmes of the country providing it doesn’t steal the money…
20.The Employment Enterprise Programme ( EEP)
Business principles since the days of Babylon are based on the same principles. You have a product or service and you offer it to someone who pays for it at an agreed price. You keep doing the same thing until you become self sustaining or rich…if you can’t sell your goods or services...You go broke.
In our economy SMALL TO MEDIUM sized businesses all depend on the availability of money to spend. If people don’t have much to spend…all SME (Small to Medium Enterprises) suffer. In fact…they go broke.
In a tight economy in recession with a high unemployment rate the government needs to encourage SME’s. How do they do that? They get people to startup their own business. That is what the EEP is all about.
The AUP plans to create over 1 -1.5million new jobs by encouraging entrepreneurs to set up their own business. But for these to be self-sustaining jobs a programme needs to be set up to :
1. Teach Financial Literacy ie how to set up Cash flow Forecasts, Income & Expenditure, balance Sheets,Business & Marketing Plans etc.
2. Have private service providers who will walk the candidate through the programme from start to finish.
3. Have mentors that will help the candidate with questions about how to do things.
4. And finally, the setup costs to start the small business and keep it going for the first 6 months.
The EEP programme is funded by the 3 % EEP tax as prescribed in the new tax section of this manifesto.
36
Employment Enterprise Business Centers ( EEBC)will be set up throughout South Africa to deliver these services. The providers of the initial education will be paid by the state to transfer these skills.
Once the Business plan has been approved by the EEBC and signed off by the mentor the prospective candidate will receive R50 000 to set up their own business!
It is then up to them to make it happen. But they won’t be alone. They will have their own mentors to guide them along the way with advice and further assistance. We don’t just chuck our chicks out of the nest until they can fly…!
One in 10 businesses succeeds without guidance. With the EEP the statistics will rise to 6 in 10.
Each business after one year will support 10 people. If the EEP can train 100 000 people per annum that will translate into approximately 1 million new jobs over 3 years and approximately 1.5-2 million jobs in 5.
The AUP has modeled this programme on the successful delivery of new business in the UK where 200 million pounds ( 4 Billion Rand) was set aside to create new jobs through SMEs.
The AUP believes this alone will generate and liberate, empower and employ 1.5 million people over a 5 year period. The most important factor in all of this is that the person who walks into an EEBC with No Knowledge will walk out having a Diploma in Financial literacy. Within 3 months he or she will be empowered to start their own business!
That’s the kind of vision that we have of creating new jobs.
The DA has said they will create 6 million new jobs over 5 years…. That is still only reducing the unemployment rate by 10 %!
We will double it in 5 years. How?
1. The EEP will produce 1.5 million- 2 Million new jobs.
2. Public works funded by the Ubuntu Tax will provide 3.5 million new jobs.
37
3. New Industries such as Antarctica Fishing, Solar Farms in the Karoo, a NEW Satellite & Communications launch Base in the Northern Cape to provide our own Nation Wide WIFI!- as well as a Silicon Valley computer component manufacturing plant, Hydroelectric Power in the Congo, Lesotho and Namibia and other Pan African projects in Tanzania, Angola and Sudan, TransAfrica Rail & Road Projects, Wind Farms in the Cape, IT& Communications, Duty Free zones in Kwazulu Natal and in the Eastern Cape, New Banks,Building Societies & Investment Funds, Wineries ,Distilleries and Liquor producers ( Once monopoly laws are abolished new companies will be created to give South Africans a better deal thereby creating 1.5 million new jobs overnight) & a brand new Mega City in the Eastern Cape/Free State to bring this nation together economically, politically and spiritually. – in total around 3.5 million new jobs!
4. Internships and apprenticeships - 1 million.
5. Agricultural, Public & Private sector as well as Manufacturing and Industrial Jobs ( Once the unions have been made redundant & Foreign exchange controls have been abolished foreign investment will come in to develop the economy ;and we will encourage manufacturing of South African products from Clothes to Cars..) 2.5 million new jobs.
6. Total: 12.5 Million new jobs and work opportunities.
The above figures are an estimate -but it goes further than any other party. Some of our ideas may seem to the reader farfetched now; but as Walt Disney once said… “If it can be dreamed, it can be created!”
21.Women Issues – How we plan to empower women in this country
Historically women in this country have been neglected and the AUP wants to see more women in business, government and industry. We are committed to reducing sexual and domestic violence against women, misogyny and gender discrimination.
Our policy on this issue is to work with domestic and foreign networks to empower women especially in their own businesses to help them to nurture their families. This will restore their integrity and dignity.
We will also as a party offer free legal aid to women in need.
38
In South Africa under Thabo Mbeki’s Rule HIV AIDS has had a devastating effect on families; with many breadwinners dying of the disease- especially in KwaZulu Natal. Antiretroviral drugs only arrived in the last 10 years. Women have been left impoverished as a result and have been forced into prostitution or low paid jobs to feed their families.
We also take cognizance of the fact that South Africa has per capita the highest rape and sexual assault statistics in the world. Much of this is down to a lack of education and the violent culture in our prisons. The AFRICA UNITE WOMENS LEAGUE ( AUWL) will work tirelessly to ensure that women are empowered in this nation and protected by law. To this end we will be creating a special trust fund for widows and orphans to assist women to become self sustaining. We will create intensive organic“SPAZAFARMS” that will grow vegetables and maize to feed families in need and sell the excess in the townships where they live.
And these will be run by women themselves in the community. The AUP will also set up a scholarship fund to assist talented women to achieve their dreams of being educated in a good university abroad. Finally, the AUP is committed to speaking out against femicide and sexism. We believe these issues should be discussed in a yearly Forgiveness and Reconciliation conferences to bring harmony between genders. The AUP is a post feminist party and believes it is necessary for men to be partners in the struggle to empower women and stop violence against women and children. Women need to have a dialogue with men (especially offenders) to find ways to create a violence free South Africa.
22.Prison Reform- How we plan to transform them
South Africa has the 9th largest prison population in the world. The combined capacity of the prisons in South Africa are supposed to hold around 120 000 people but instead are grossly overcrowded and hold 150 000. The burgeoning cost to the state is enormous. Prisons have become warehouses of crime and criminals and are regarded to be the most violent in the world.
It is unbelievable and inconceivable that the very same ANC leaders that were in these prisons themselves have done nothing to change or to reform these places where they themselves suffered. The truth is that the prisons in South Africa are far worse than they were 20 years ago and much more violent. We have the highest male rape statistics amongst prisoners anywhere in the world… we also have the highest HIV AIDS statistics of any prisons in the world. Prisons in this country are a disgrace to humanity and to our country…and they only create more crime and more criminals… they do not rehabilitate but emasculate and degenerate the human character. This must change. And with the AUP it will. We propose the following:
1. Full conjugal rights for all prisoners in every prison.
39
2. Building of new mega prisons to compensate for overcrowding and to reduce violence and costs.
3. A literacy programme to teach all inmates how to read and write.
4. Full access to all UNISA course and full funding for those who qualify.
5. Arts, Drama, Music and Creative Writing classes for all.
6. Full medication for mental health problems and a separation of vulnerable prisoners from the main population. Proper psychiatric and forensic counseling for all.
7. A prisoner’s council elected by prisoners to improve conditions in long-term prisons.
8. A national newspaper so that prisoners may know their rights and be able to communicate their feelings and empower other prisoners to turn their lives around. Also access to Listeners /Samaritans who they can share their problems or thoughts of self harm.
9. Workplace skills to prepare prisoners for life after prison.
10. New libraries, gyms and sports facilities to improve the mental and physical health of all prisoners and less lockdown.
11. Paid jobs both in and out the prison so that the prisoner can save money for his release or support his family on the outside.
12. Better hospital facilities within prisons and canteen facilities and healthier food.
In the past …until now…Prisons have been places where people have become animals… but with the AUP it will be a place where animals will become humans again… we believe that a crime doesn’t make a person. That all persons who have a made a mistake can rehabilitate themselves and become new again. Nelson Mandela did it. Unfortunately, today’s prisons in this country under the regime of the ANC have become warehouses – universities of crime. In fact the gangs in Cape Town are run from Pollsmoor prison. The AUP believes that the system of male rape in prison is appalling and it needs to change. We believe if the wives and girlfriends of prisoners were given the opportunity to exercise their conjugal rights in prison; there would be less rape. It has been proven to be so in other parts of the world in countries such as Cuba, France, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
Our prisons need to be places of restoration and rehabilitation not places of dehumanization and punishment. Losing one’s liberty is punishment enough…losing one’s humanity is a sad indictment on our society as a whole. This must stop. And with the AUP …it will!
40
23.The Empowerment Charter- Why it must be written by all South Africans
What is the “Empowerment Charter? “ The Empowerment Charter is a document which is still to be written. It is a document that will put the past behind us by creating a new future and a positive present. The Empowerment charter needs to be written and endorsed by ALL South Africans of all descriptions because it represents the aspirations of all South Africans.
The AUP will lead in this process to bring all the political poles together to write this document. As a starter we believe it must not only replace all reverse apartheid laws such as the BEE law and the Employment Equity bill; it must also address the unfilled issues of the Freedom Charter.
The land redistribution; the proposed nationalization of the mines and the banks and the breaking up of the cartels that controls the wealth in this country.
It must also address minority issues of the Khoisan , the Griqua and the Boer.
The EMPOWERMENT CHARTER must address the legacy of apartheid once and for all. It must as a document NOT disempower anyone…and that is why it must be “written” or at least endorsed by everyone in this nation…
It is as important as the Freedom Charter and as Important as the Constitution. In fact where the Constitutional Court has failed the little man; the Empowerment Charter needs to seek justice from any institution and recourse. It is the last post when it comes to the rights of every South African. And the most important thing of all is that the Empowerment Charter must not be longwinded.
It must be short and to the point. We will not write this charter but we will draft it. It should go something like this:
The Empowerment Charter
“We the people of South Africa declare ourselves a Rainbow Nation of all colors, creeds, races, clans, tribes and understandings. We hold true that every South African should have equal opportunity and be treated equally no matter how small their cause is; or how different they are. We believe in the empowerment of ALL our citizens and the merit of our energy, knowledge, achievements, ability, expertise, experience and aptitude.
41
We acknowledge the sins of the past. Where one man was put down against another on account of the colour of his or her skin, or his or her race. We acknowledge the fact that the majority of this nation was discriminated against first by the British, then by the Afrikaner. We also acknowledge that the Black Economic Empowerment laws have only perpetuated the legacy of apartheid, and not addressed the issues at hand. Therefore, we propose the following:
1. All land stolen from the indigenous peoples of this land against their will and without recourse be restituted by good agreement between all parties concerned forthwith.
2. All cartels, monopolies and conglomerate organizations created to disempower the people of this nation be disbanded; or handed over to the people by a privatization and distribution process of share certificates. The mineral resources of this country belong to all its citizens; and they should be the ones who benefit from it.
3. All people of this country must be given equal opportunity to prosper in the work or marketplace, in the schools and in the universities and on the playing fields. No person should be discriminated against on account of their race, gender or status. We are all equal. We must all work together for the good of the nation.
4. We hold true that as South Africans we have the right to stand up and be counted. We have the right to demonstrate against what we perceive to be wrong; and we have the right to be treated with respect, integrity and dignity by all public servants and our fellow citizens. We all have the right to be heard.
5. We believe that in the Spirit of Ubuntu – of sharing and caring we should build this country together and make it shine. We must make poverty history and all must share in our nation’s abundance. We must become true patriots of this common land. United we stand, divided we fall.
May God bless and empower ALL Africa and ALL Africans. Amen.

OUR AIM IS TO MAKE POVERTY HISTORY IN AFRICA AND POVERTY MINDSET
